We also raise black soldier flies. Why? Because the black soldier fly's larvae break down food waste even faster than red wigglers, and they make the perfect feed for our chickens, helping to promote our circular zero-waste process. Black soldier fly larvae are loaded with protein and nutrients, making them a remarkable feeder insect for chickens, reptiles, and fish. We sell them as a feed stock, both live and dried.

Just like worms, as flies eat their way through food waste, we harvest their castings (poop), also known as frass. As larvae break down the food, they release the bound nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium locked within the decaying material and much of this is released into their frass making it a rich organic soil amendment.

Due to popular demand, we are now offering eggie strips. These are the cardboard structures we encourage our BSF to lay their eggs in. Each strip contains approximately 8,000 BSF eggs. We will ship the strips with chicken mash, so all you need to add is water and patience.

Taylor Farms and Wren House Brewing kindly provide the food used in our Black Soldier Fly Breeding program. Support their sustainability efforts by grabbing a locally brewed craft beer or purchasing a salad or vegetable kit.
